Police organises ‘Run for Unity’ events in Awantipora, Pulwama

SRINAGAR: In the memory of Police martyrs and to pay tributes to the martyrs, Police have organised ‘Run for Unity’ events in Awantipora and Pulwama, a statement issued by the Police said.
In Awantipora, 8 Kms cross country run under the banner of “Run for Unity” was flagged off by SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem wherein 184 boys/girls of different age groups of different areas participated.
The event was started at 08:30 am from DPL Crossing village Jawabera through National Highway upto Village Barsoo (CTC crossing Khenibugh) and back. Boys and girls were flagged off into two groups separately.
During the flag off ceremony, SSP Awantipora interacted with the participants and expressed that the event has been organised in the honour of police martyrs for remembering their courage, valour and sacrifices they made for the unity and integrity of the Nation as well as in protecting the life and property of the people.
SSP Awantipora distributed cash rewards, mementos and certificates among the first six winners of the event and participation certificates among the participants. He further stated that more sports activities shall be organized in the Police District Awantipora in future.
Similarly, in Pulwama the run was flagged off by DC Pulwama Raghav Langer and SP Pulwama Ashish Mishra from Banoora crossing and culminated at Peaks automobiles Gangoo. The run was categorized into two age groups viz below 18 and above 18. SP Pulwama congratulated the winner and runner up and distributed the prizes among the 1st, 2nd and 3rd on both age groups respectively.
On the conclusion of the event SP Pulwama paid rich tributes to the police martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the peace and prosperity of the nation and also thanked the public for their active participation in honouring the Police Martyrs.
