Tourism department casual labourers protest , demand wages, regularisation

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Tourism Department Casual Labours Union TRC on Tuesday held a protest demonstration here in Srinagar demanding the department to release their pending wages from July 2014 and regularisation of their services.
The casual labourers of the tourism department assembled inside the premises of the Directorate office and chanted slogans ” we want justice”, ” release our pending,” and “we want regularisation of the service’s,”.
The protesting casual laborers said that despite their duties on a regular basis, the department is not releasing their wages which is pending from them. July 2014 in the department.
President of the Jammu and Kashmir Casual Labours United Front (JKCLUF), Tanveer Ahmad said that the casual Labours which are working in the tourism department are not getting their wages since 2014. It is unfortunate that the department is not demanding funds from the finance department and the department is not including their wages in Budget 2021- 2022.
“All the casual labourers which are working in the other departments are performing the same duties which the other employees are performing in the department. The casual Labours in the tourism department are forced to hit the roads, the families members of these casual Labours are affected and they do not have any kind of money in their pockets so they pay the school fee of their children as their wages are pending from the last 7 years,” He said.
The protesting casual labourers said that the government should must Implement the minimum wages Act upon the ground levels, so, we can get proper wages as per the minimum wages Act policy.
They also requested Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir releasing their pending wages and implementation of minimum wages act across Jammu and Kashmir.
