NHPC restores Unit 1st of Chamera power project

Srinagar: NHPC has restored 100 MW Unit 1st off 300 MW Chamera-II Power Station of NHPC located in Chamba District, Himachal Pradesh and successfully synchronized with the Northern Grid
The two units Chamera-II Power Station were under outage due to fire incidents in August last year in which Stators of both the Units were damaged.
The restoration work according to NHPC was a herculean task as it involved integrating new components into around 17 years old Units.
NHPC through its in-house competencies accomplished the task despite various odds and once again proved its worth in the area of Testing & Commissioning of Hydropower Units. The Unit was restored overcoming all hurdles and multiple challenges faced amidst COVID-19 outbreak. Arrangement of Material, ensuring onsite availability of Contractor’s Personnel, their quarantine arrangements in line with the Govt. norms & directives were some of the key challenges addressed during the restoration process. Round-the-clock work & dedicated efforts of all the personnel involved in the process made the synchronization possible.
Restoration activities for Unit 2nd are also in full swing and expected to be restored and synchronized very soon.
