UDHAMPUR: Intensifying its drive to protect the Consumers from exploitation by the unscrupulous traders, a team of Legal Metrology Department, headed by Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Ajay Kumar, conducted an extensive market checking in Udhampur and adjoining areas.
During inspection, packages of Stellar Mathematical Drawing Instrument box Marketed by the M/S A W Faber Castell (India) Pvt. Ltd Andheri East Mumbai was seized from Stationary Shop for not mentioning the MRP on the package.
A notice was served to the management of the Company and after going through a number of correspondences, the Legal advisor of the Company admitted the discrepancies and pleaded for guilty. On the request of Management of the Company and with the assurance not to repeat the same discrepancies in future, the booked challan was compounded and a penalty of Rs 25000.00 was imposed on the company.
Meanwhile, the Department has appealed to the traders to use only verified Weights and Measures for Business transactions and ensure the mandatory declarations of MRP, PKD, Net Contents and complete address and Customer care Number on the Commodities to be sold in package Form.
