Webinar on sustainable livelihood held at GDC women Pulwama

SRINAGAR: A One-Day National Webinar on “An Overview of Vermicomposting and Mushroom Cultivation as Sustainable Livelihood Options” was organized by Department of Botany in collaboration with IQAC, GDC Women Pulwama on 7th Oct, 2020. The Webinar was conducted through Google Meet. The welcome address was presented by Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone (Principal of the College) in which he stressed on conducting webinars on such timely, relevant, and employment-generation skills. Dr. Tariq Ahmad Dar (Assistant Professor/ Head, Department of Botany and Convener of the Webinar) moderated the Webinar.
Dr. Shreekar Pant (Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, J&K) was the key-speaker in the Webinar and he spoke at length on Vermicomposting and Mushroom Cultivation as sustainable livelihood options as well as its benefits for the local population in their socio-economic development. Dr Pant’s presentation was followed by Q&A session in which the learned speaker answered the queries raised by the participants.
The webinar ended with vote of thanks, proposed by Dr. Tariq Ahmad (AP, Botany; Member, IQAC). Shabir Ahmad Bhat (AP, Persian; Coordinator, IQAC) and Dr Vaseem Raja (Lecturer, Botany) co-ordinated the event. Other organizing members of the Webinar included Dr Tauseef Ahmad Parray (AP, Islamic Studies) Dr Shahzad Ahmad Wani (AP, Sociology), Zahoor Ahmad (AP, Education), Dr Satinder Singh (AP, Economics), and Dr Jaweed Ahmad (AP, Kashmiri). The webinar was attended by over 170 participants, which included faculty members, researchers and students, from across the country.
