Wildlife Protection Deptt organises event to commemorate ‘Wildlife Week’

SRINAGAR: The Department of Wildlife Protection Central Division today organized an event at Dachigam National Park to commemorate ‘Wildlife Week’ in collaboration with the Department of Tourism.
Wildlife Week is celebrated every year from October 02 to October 8, on the occasion various events were organized to create awareness among masses regarding the wildlife and its conservation.
The activities conducted during the event at Dachigam National Park included cycling, trekking and thought-provoking talk sessions on the importance of Wildlife and its connectivity with life cycle on earth.
The Observance was attended by Regional Wildlife Warden, Kashmir, Rashid Yahya Naqash, Director, Tourism Department, Deputy Director, Tourism and Wildlife Warden, Central Division.
The Regional Wildlife Warden, Rashid Yahya Naqash said that Jammu and Kashmir’s richness in terms of Wildlife is unmatched and this annual affair celebrates the same throughout the Wildlife Week.
He further highlighted different activities taken up by the Department of Wildlife Protection that notably include protection of Wildlife areas, dealing with man animal conflict and prevention of wildlife crimes.
Director Tourism Kashmir, Nisar Ahmad Wani laid emphasis on collaboration with Department of Wildlife Protection to promote tourism sector and other areas jointly.
It was informed that the online competition has been organized by the Central Division and students up to 12th class have been invited to showcase their talent and feelings on Wildlife themes in form of portraits, essays and short articles.
The top performers besides given away prizes shall be provided an opportunity to visit world famous Dachigam National Park.
