Youth prevented from joining militant ranks in Ganderbal

Ganderbal: A youth was detained by Ganderbal police, and handed over to parents, as he according to them was heading to join militant ranks in Ganderbal district, officials said on Thursday.
According to a police statement, a youth identified as Umar Nazir Sheikh (22) Son of Nazir Ahmad a resident of Ganderbal was planning to join militant ranks. The youth had been indoctrinated and were influenced by the false narratives,”.
Police said that after receiving military and intelligence inputs the youth was put to brief for questioning.During questioning and upon verifying his social media outlook especially on WhatsApp and Telegram, he was in constant touch with some suspects in Bandipora and Pulwama and had developed a tendency to join militancy.
As per police statement the youth was properly counselled by SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal and other experts in presence of their family members thereby preventing them from joining the militant ranks.
Later on, the youth was handed over to his family members. His parents expressed their gratitude to police for this gesture and thanked Ganderbal Police.
