JK Cements Employees Association appeal LG to make company functional, address employee issues

Srinagar: The J&K Cements Employees Association have appealed LG Manoj Sinha to kindly intervene personally into the present state of affairs of J&K Cements, Ltd
In a statement it said that the J&K Cements Ltd having two Cement manufacturing plants of 600 TPD each at Khrew Pulwama and 300 TPD at Samba Jammu respectively, are non-operational since July 2019 due to mounting liabilities of Rs 340 crore till date and being on increasing trend rapidly with every passing day and also lack of working capital to purchase Raw materials/spares etc.
The Company has incurred heavy production losses continuously from last 7 years due to various reasons, and the main reason being high consumption of Coal and Power. It said that deputing Managing Directors from other Corporations on pick and choose policy by the Administrative Department, who lacked Cement expertise/experience.
About the C.P.Fund of Employees it said that it stands deducted from their Salaries for the last 5 years has not been deposited in the accounts of employees for no fault of theirs, besides the salary of Employees for last 18 months’ has not been disbursed also, despite the fact that they attend their duties regularly.
Adding that the Employees of the Company who retired from the services have not been paid terminal benefits which amounts to Rs 16 Crore. Both Retired and Service Employees starving nonpayment of dues, has made their lives hell, as they are not able to meet daily expenditures viz.Ration, Medicine and Children’s school fee in present expensive time.
About the government . transferred the services of Chief Engineer to JK CL as M.D in July 2020, is a well come step with the promise that the plants will be made operational by the financial assistance of Rs 50 Crore in which Rs 28 Crore are to be released in the first phase, and the MOU stands signed by JK CI with I&C
Department accordingly, but unfortunately the government seems to be in dubitation on this issue, as neither the Financial Assistance has been made to revive the plant nor the decision of Privatization been taken sofar, as Communicated in January 2020 by the Former L.G about the latter option,which has created uncertainty in the minds of employees about their future rehabilitation.
It said if the policy of the Govt. remains the same, we may left with no either option except to come on roads with our families to meet the legitimate demands. Adding that the employees have no objection, if government .adopts scheme like GHS,VRS etc. also, for the employees of the company, enabling us to apply for the same.
