10 tippers involved in illegal mineral transportation seized in Pampore

Pampore: Around 10 tippers carrying illegal mining materials were seized during a nocturnal raid by a joint team of revenue department, geology and mining and ARTO in Pampore area of South Kashmir on intervening night of 26 and 27 September.
The team was led by Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din, ARTO Pulwama and latter joined in by Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Raghav Langer.
The raids were conducted in Khrew Chowk, Drangbal, Kadlabal and Galander areas of Pampore under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Raghav Langer.
Crackdown on illegal miners Revenue department, ARTO Pulwama and Geology and Mining department conducted nocturnal raids in Saffron town Pampore and 10 tippers were seized, Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din told Kashmir Reader.
“We had receivind complaints from locals of Saffron town that many people are using their vehicles for illegal mining of sand, soil and other minerals during night hours in various areas of Pampore,” Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-Ud- Din said, adding a joint was constituted and night raids were carried out during which 10 tippers were found involved in carrying materials illegally mined including soil, sand and boulders.
“The tippers were seized and further action as warranted under law will be taken against them,” he said.
He also told Kashmir Reader that documents of the seized tippers have been impounded and black listed by the ARTO Pulwama.
The Tehsildar warned the illegal miners of strict action and appealed general public to cooperate with them in curbing the menace.
The local people appreciated the action as they were disturbed by unwanted noise during night.
They said that they use the soil for filling Abi Awal land and converting it for commercial purposes should be stopped.
