SHOPIAN: District Development Commissioner, Shopian Chaudhry Mohammad Yasin today visited Mega Fruit Mandi Aglar & took stock of ongoing developmental activities in the Mandi.
On the occasion, DDC held threadbare discussion with the fruit growers regarding the current status of ongoing developmental activities in the Mandi.
During the discussion the DDC was appraised about the issues and initiatives pertaining to Mega Fruit Mandi Aglar which include Macadamization of approach road leading to Mandi, fresh drinking water facility, uninterrupted power supply, installation of street lights & digging of bore well & its functioning on war footing basis. DDC was informed that trucks in hundreds and lacs of apple boxes are being dispatched on a daily basis to various states of India.
DDC on the occasion directed the concerned Executing Agencies for completion of ongoing works especially Macadamization of approach road in the first instance and also directed for timely completion of all works within a stipulated time frame, keeping in view the harvesting fruit season already setup and is in full swing. He assured the fruit growers that all their demands and problems will be looked into and redressed at an earliest.
He said that District Administration is always on forefront and making its best efforts to mitigate the problems being faced and will leave no stone unturned to solve these problems. He also assured that funds are being released very soon for the development of the Mega Fruit Mandi Aglar for its beautification.
He expressed his greatest pleasure in seeing the fruit growers association & others much more relaxed in their operations and vendor criteria.

DDC while interacting with the fruit growers emphasized upon them to strictly adopt all the advisories related to COVID-19 Virus and stressed for wearing of masks and maintaining social distancing to avoid the spread of Coronavirus.

He added that a team of health functionaries will also be deputed to Mega Fruit Mandi Aglar for collecting sampling with regard to COVID-19 and appealed the fruit growers for cooperating with health functionaries in this regard to save the precious life.

Later, DDC made a full round of whole Mega Fruit Mandi Aglar and inspected the various phuds installed with apple boxes received so far from the fruit growers of the District.

President Fruit Growers Association and other fruit growers of the various areas of Shopian District were present on the occasion.
