Police in Srinagar arrests a lottery gambler

Srinagar: Police in Srinagar have arrested a lottery gambler from Lal Chowk area for violating SMC trade rules and regulations by investing money through illegal ways. Lottery tickets have also been recovered.
Based on credible information about lottery gambling by a shopkeeper under the name and style of “Bhat Paan House” located at Lal Chowk MA Road Srinagar, the police party from PS Kothibagh arrested the owner identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Sadiq resident of Suthra Shahi Srinagar.
Preliminary investigation reveals that he was involved in violating the SMC trade rules and regulations by playing lottery at his shop and investing money through illegal ways which causes inconvenience to the public. The said individual is also involved in cheating common people by alluring them to lottery, forgery and trickery.
Accordingly, case FIR No. 74/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Kothibagh and investigation in progress. The accused has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody. Lottery tickets have also been seized from the shop.
Our consistent actions against anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police have resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
