Casual labourers engaged with Tourism Dept protest for regularisation, pending salaries

SRINAGAR: Kashmir Tourism Department Casual Labours Union TRC on Thursday held a protest demonstration here in Srinagar demanding the government release their wages pending from July 2014 and regularisation of their services in the department.
Scores of casual Labours from the tourism department assembled here inside the premises of the Directorate office of the tourism department,chanting slogans in favour of their genuine demands.
The protesting casual labours said that they are working in the tourism department as casual Labours but their wages have not been released yet by the department. President of the Kashmir Tourism Department Casual Labours Union TRC, Qaisar Ahmad Bhat said that we are facing a financial crisis on a daily basis as our wages are pending in the department for the last six years.
“We are demanding the department as well the government to release our wages as soon as possible without any delay,” Bhat said
He said that we are 342 casual labourers and our names uploaded by the department on the NIC website of the finance department. In which only 14 casual Labours are getting the wages. The casual Labours said that the government should implement the Minimum Wages Act policy across Jammu and Kashmir and all the casual Labours will get benefit through this policy.
The protesting casual labourers requested the LG of Jammu and Kashmir to look into the matter and release their pending wages on humanitarian basis.
