PULWAMA: The Grievance Redressal Camp at Awantipora witnessed an overwhelming public response as hundreds of people thronged the venue to put forth their grievances before the District Development Commissioner Dr. Raghav Langer.
The camp was conducted in view of the emerging drought like conditions due to scanty rainfall in certain areas of the district.
Several delegations of farmers, civil society members and individuals from all across the district informed the DDC about their issues and sought their early redressal. The DDC gave patient hearing to all the delegations and resolved the pending demands on spot besides, setting timelines for the schemes in progress.
While speaking on the occasion, Langer said that the farming committee forms the base of the economy of the district and exhorted upon the officers to ensure their accessibility for the community.
He said that the issues related to cleaning of irrigation canals and choking of khols should be expedited so that the drought mitigation process is fastened.
Among others, ADC Pulwama, Tral and Awantipora, all Tehsildars and BDOs remained present at the camp besides the camp was attended by all the officers of the line departments including Mechanical Irrigation Division, Irrigation and Flood Control, Irrigation Construction Division and Jal Shakti etc.
