India, Pakistan exchange heavy firing in Kupwara

Kupwara: The troops of India and Pakistan on Thursday evening exchange heavy cross-border firing in Kupwara sector of north Kashmir.
Sources said that Pakistani forces violated the ceasefire and targeted several Indian Army posts near Panzgam area with bullets and mortar shells.
The Indian army retaliated and the firing and shelling from both sides continued till late night.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara AS Dinkar confirmed the cross-LoC firing in Kupwara village on Thursday evening, but said there was no loss of life or injury.
On Thursday, a civilian named Mohammad Yaqoob Mir of Karnah, who was injured in cross LOC firing on August 7, succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS hospital in Srinagar.
