BARAMULLA: The body of a minor boy who drowned into river Jehlum on Wednesday afternoon in border town Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, was fished out on Thursday.
Police sources said that a rescue operation launched soon after the accident was suspended Wednesday evening for night.
However, the police, SDRF along with local people of the area resumed the search operation Thursday morning in river Jehlum, they said that around 11 am rescue teams fished out the body a few kilometres away from the accident spot.
On Wednesday afternoon, Momeen Ahmad Chalkoo age 10 son of Javaid Ahmad Chalkoo of Silikote drowned in river Jehlum at Gingle Uri when he was with his relatives and took a bath in the river with some other children.
The body was handed over to family for last rites after all legal formalities at SDH Uri, police registered a report in this regard.
