FCS&CA starts distributing free ration to consumers

SRINAGAR: The department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs (FCS&CA) have started the distribution of the free ration to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Priority Household (PHH) cardholders, After the Prime Minister of India announced the extension of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), a programme to provide free ration to the poor people for next five months from July- November 2020 end.
Earlier the Government of India has made the announcement in wake of Covid-19 lockdown. 5 kgs of ration to per person per household and 1 Kg of pulses will be given under PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana for three months from April – June to the poor beneficiaries covered under National food security Act (NFSA) to ensure the availability of food to poor people during the lockdown.
Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs (FCS&CA) department, Bashir Ahmad Khan told Kashmir Reader that the department has already started the distribution the free ration to the beneficiaries of BPL, AAY, PHH ration cards holders under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) Scheme.
“The 1 kg of pulses will be also distributed to the beneficiaries on the immediate basis as per the government orders,” Khan said
He said that each member of a family will get 5 Kg of rice and every family will get 1 Kg of pulses as per the PMGKAY Scheme.
