‘Maximise outreach to ensure credit flow to farmers’

Srinagar: A Kisan Mela was organized by the Department of Agriculture at Lalmandi, Srinagar. Director Agriculture Kashmir Altaf Aijaz Andrabi inaugurated the Mela and directed the officers to maximize outreach to ensure flow of credit to farmers for farming.
While speaking on the occasion Director said main focus of organizing such camps is saturation of KCC to 100% farmers those engaged in agricultural activities, horticulture activities, dairy farming, fisheries, sheep rearing etc.
Director said, these Kisan Melas are providing massive awareness to the participants regarding various schemes available with the Departments, technological up-gradation, new seeds and new technologies of cultivation, and massive push to enhance the skill regarding packaging, grading and other logistics which will in the long run help them in making themselves relevant in the market so that there produce is sold at better prices.
Director said it is the prime responsibility of zonal officers to follow the cases of the aspiring farmers for getting the KCC loans sanctioned in their favour. Agriculture Department, Horticulture Department, J&K Bank, PNB, Sheep Husbandry, Agros, Floriculture and some private entrepreneurs set up their stalls to showcase their schemes and products during the mela.
More than 100 farmers participated in the event while maintaining social distance amid covid-19 restriction.
Later Director distributed seven paddy thrashers to Panchayat Raj Institutions of Srinagar district free of cost.
