AWANTIPORA: A junior officer of Jammu and Kashmir Police died in a road accident on Srinagar -Jammu highway in Awantipora area of Pulwama district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Nazir Ahmad Sofi (54), son of Sunna Ullah, a resident of Khapora Maniwar Anantnag. He was serving in JKP as assistant sub Inspector.
Station House Officer (SHO) Awantipora, Madasir Naseer told Kashmir Reader that the incident occurred at Aghanzpora near Awantipora bridge.
“A truck under bearing registration number JKO4F-4210, which was driven by Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, resident of Charar- e Sharief, hit a two wheeler driven by Nazir Ahmad, causing his on spot death,” he said, adding that the ASI was heading towards Srinagar for reporting to his duties.
The police officer said that a case has been registered at police station Awantipora and driver of the vehicle has been taken custody.
