Locals demand macadamisation of Nagabal-Narwani road in Shopian

SHOPIAN: A vital road link from Nagbal to Narwani is in deplorable condition with locals demanding immediate black topping of this road which connects over a dozen villages with district headquarter of Shopian and each other.
Locals in the area told Kashmir Reader that the links roads connecting with this road have been being macadamised ,however, this main road has been neglected by the authorities once again .
“We don’t understand what is the reason that the main road has been left in deplorable condition and its adjoining links are being macadamised,” Farooq Ahmad Bhat, a local said.
Locals said that they are facing tough times since years due to dusty and bumpy road which connects Hushanpora, Alshipora, Waddipora, Drawani, Bandpow, Thokerpora Gund-darvesh, Ambarbug and adjoining villages with Shopian-Bejbrahara road and district headquarter of Shopian and Anantnag.
“We request deputy commissioner Shopian to bring this road under any plan for carrying the resurfacing so that people in the area wouldn’t face more problems due to the bad condition of road,” Ali Muhammad, a villager from the area said.
Villagers said that first the road is narrow due to which two vehicles can’t pass at once and then it’s bumpy and dotted with potholes.
Executive engineer roads and buildings Shopian, Abdul Quyoom Kirmani told Kashmir Reader that he will look into this matter and will sort it out if there was any provision to bring the road under the scheme.
