18 held in Baramulla for illegal sand mining

BARAMULLA: Police on Sunday arrested eighteen people who were involved in illegal sand mining in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement to the press, police said that, “acting on information of illegal sand mining from river Jehlum at Baramulla, police in a swift action arrested 18 persons and also seized four tractors and a tipper on spot at Khawajabagh area.
In this regard a FIR number 106/2020 under section 188,379,447,427IPC stands registered in police station Baramulla and investigation taken up”.
Police also request people living adjacent to the mining areas of river Jhelum to kindly pass information of illegal sand extraction from river Jhelum to police.
