Prof. Mohi-ud-din Hajini remembered on 103rd birth anniversary

SRINAGAR: Halq-e-Adab Hajin and Adabi Markaz Kamraz J &K in collaboration Monday held a online function to commemorate the via online media 103rd birth anniversary of Professor Mohi-Ud-Din Hajini; the founder of Adabi Markaz Kamraz J &K, the forerunner of Kashmiri Language Movement
The function was presided over by the famous writer Prof. Ratan Lal Shant; Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, the Principal secretary Education J&K served as the chief guest. Various eminent personalities from overseas and within the state; litterateurs, intellectuals, journalists, social workers, educationists, belletrists and writers also paid tribute to Prof. Hajini.
On this occasion Sonaullah Niyazi presented a welcome address while Dr. Aziz Hajini delivered the keynote address. In his address, Dr. Hajini glorified Prof. Mohi Uddin Hajini as an outspoken, fearless, brave and a selfless man who sacrificed his whole life in serving, nourishing and exploring Kashmiri language and culture. He said that late Hajni sahib sacrificed his interests, posts and positions in restoring and preserving the identity of Kashmir. Instead of compromising on his principles he preferred to remain in the back of beyond and accepted the hardships of prison. Prof Rehman Rahi , Dr. G Q Ilaqband from America, Fayaz Sheharyar from Delhi (Former Director General All India Radio), Dr. K Sreenivasarao (Secretary Sahitya Akademi New Delhi), Rajesh Raina from Hyderabad, Brij Nath Betab from Jammu and Prof. Shafi Shoq, Rukhsana Jabeen, Satish Vimal, Wali Mohammad Aseer Kishtwadi, Abdal Mehjoor, Prof. Mashal Sultanpuri, and Shahbaz Hakbari threw light on Prof. Hajini’s immeasurable oeuvre and arduous lifespan.
On this occasion, the chief guest in his special address Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon revered Prof. Mohi Uddin Hajini as the most illustrious personality of Kashmir. “Instead of having diverse competencies and capabilities Prof. Hajini prioritized only Kashmiri language and literature and made it as his sole purpose of his life.
On this occasion he assured that the government will take all necessary steps to establish Kashmiri language and culture and is keen to take the requisite steps for its development. “Kashmiri will be taught as a compulsory subject in class 9th and 10th and attempts will be made to make the teaching of Kashmiri language effective at senior secondary level as well” stated Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon. He gave assurance that Kashmiri departments will be established in Central University, Islamic University and SCERT Kashmir.
In his presidential address Prof. Ratan Lal Shant while expressing his relation with Pro. Mohi Uddin Hajini, threw light on the different dimensions of his personality. In his address he praised the efforts of Haq-e-Adab Sonawari Hajin and Adabee Markaz Kamraz J & K for leading Kashmiri language Movement in such exemplary manner and at the same time remembering the contributions of their ancestors.
On this occasion Abdul Ahad Hajini was conferred “Khilat-e-Hajini 2020” for his outstanding literary contributions.
