Cross LoC shelling in Karnah area

Baramulla: Indian and Pakistan troops posted along the Line of Control (LoC) in Karnah area of frontier district Kupwara on Friday evening exchanged fire.
Official sources in this side of Kashmir said that Pakistani troops deployed along the LOC resorted unprovoked ceasefire violation and targeted Indian army posts in the sector Friday evening, using machine guns and firing mortar shells to this side, which was retaliated by the Indian army posted along the LOC.
A senior police officer said that cross border firing and shelling started on Friday evening and is still continuing.
Fayaz Ahmad, a local of the area said that both the armies are using heavy shells to target each other, due to which a fear has been created among the locals of the area.
However, as now no shell hits the residential, he confirmed.The firing and shelling was on when this report was filed.
