Wuyan Pampore residents demand blacktopping of road

PAMPORE: The residents of Wuyan village in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have appealed to authorities for blacktopping a vital road in their area.
Arshid Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Wuyan and general secretary of Rural Welfare Society told Kashmir Reader that a portion of Srinagar Khrew road stretching through Wuyan is in highly dilapidated condition.
He added that the stretch of this road was macadamised years ago and due to the rush of vehicles through the area, the road surface eroded, turning it into dusty path.
“The moving vehicles blow dust high in the air which then settles down inside our houses,” the residents said.
They added that they raised the issue of repairment of this road during three successive Back To Village meetings held in the area.
” The authorities did some minor patch work which was of no use as it eroded in a couple of weeks,” The residents said.
They added that they have been pleading for repairment and macadamisation with authorities of R&B from past one month but to no avail.
The residents appealed Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Girish Chandra Murmu to look into their grievance.
