3rd ‘free’ LPG refill under Covid relief package to be paid for first

Srinagar: Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) scheme will not get advance amount for LPG cylinder refill in their bank account this month (June). Beneficiaries will have to pay for the refill from their own pocket and after that they will receive the money in their bank account.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package for relief during the Covid-19 lockdown, the government had announced distribution of 3 free LPG cylinders to Ujjwala beneficiaries between April and June.
Under this scheme the beneficiaries were given advance amount of the cylinder refill through direct benefit transfer (DBT) into their bank accounts.
Parvaiz Ahmad Khan, sales manager of Indian Oil Corporation, told Kashmir Reader that the Ujjwala beneficiaries have already received the advance amount for refill of two months of April and May .
“However, this month, no advance amount for cylinder refill will be given to the PMUY consumers. Customers have to book and purchase the refill through their own money and after payment amount will be reimbursed through direct bank transfer,” Khan said.
Surinder Dogra, Territory Manager for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, confirmed that after PMUY beneficiaries pay for the LPG refill, they will receive the amount for June in their bank accounts.
“For the booking of the LPG cylinders, BP consumers can book the cylinder through Whatsapp. It makes it simple and fast,” he said.
