Five militants killed in Shopian, buried at Baramulla

Baramulla: The five militants who were killed in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday morning in a gunfight with government forces were buried here in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday late night.
Locals who dug the graves for militants said that bodies of all five local militants were shifted to Gantamulla Baramulla on Wednesday late evening by police where they were buried around 11:30 pm.
Around two dozen people including few family members of slain militants were present and they participated in their funeral prayers. Earlier, nine militants who were killed in two separate encounters in Shopian, were also buried in the graveyard with a total of 14 local militants from Shopian.
The graveyard had been exclusively meant for foriegn militants killed in encounters across different areas in the valley.
The piece of land was donated by the villagers four areas and over two hundred non local and unidentified militants were buried in this graveyard located on Srinagar Muzaffarabad highway along the river bank.
However, in the past few months the administration also started to shift the bodies of local militants to graveyards for burial, so far over 25 local militants and a civilian who was killed in cross firing last month in Handwara were buried in this graveyard.
