Black bear captured in Kupwara, second in week

BARAMULLA: A black bear was tranquilized and captured in a Handwara village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday morning. Official sources in the wildlife department said that they received information that a black bear is roaming in village Haran Chogal area of Handwara from past two days. A team of officials of wildlife department was sent to the area who captured the beast on Thursday morning.
Wildlife Warden for north Kashmir Mohammad Maqbool Baba told Kashmir Reader that few days ago a bear cub was captured from the same village and on Thursday they captured one more bear from the same village. He said the bear is fit and fine and they will release him after proper medical checkup.
The local people of the area sadi that that bear could be the mother of cub who was captured few days ago in the same village and female was searching for it.
