SRINAGAR: The Food and Drugs Administration Department (FADAD) during market inspection of some retail and whole sale food business operators, dealing with egg business, are selling stale eggs to the consumers which have been viewed seriously. In case of any complaint, consumers can contact on phone no: 0194-2495191.
Sending a stern warning to all such business operators, the department asked them to desist from such practices and ensure that eggs fit for human consumption are put on sale on their outlets.
The wholesale dealers have been asked o put in place requisite temperature control system in their business units and ensure that the eggs they possess will not spoil.
Any violation shall be dealt strictly as per the provisions of Food Safety & Standards Act, the officials said.
The consumers are requested to conduct float test by putting few eggs in a bowl of water, if they settle flat at the bottom, these are fit for consumption.
