Police launched extensive drive to destroy cannabis cultivation in Kawani area of Awantipora and arrested six persons for its cultivating.
Police party from Police Post Reshipora destroyed cannabis cultivation spread over more than 35 kanals of land in Kawani area of Awantipora and have arrested 06 persons involved in cultivating bung. They have been identified as M Amin Wani, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Tariq Ahmad Mir, Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh, Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, Irshad Ahmad Wani all resident of village Kawani Awantipora. They have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.
Case FIR No. 72/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
General public of the area have appreciated the action of police and have urged to continue such drive in nearby areas also.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law.
