Poultry unit sealed for hoarding chicken

Pampore: Tehsildar Pampore, Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din along with other officials carried a surprise market checking drive town Pampore town on Thursday during which a fine of rupees 15,500 were realised from erring meat sellers.
The fine was levied on many meat selling shopkeepers for selling meat at exorbitant rates.
The meat sellers were warned to sell meat at government approved rates or they will face penalty as warranted under law. The authorities said that they will act tuff on black marketers, hoarders. They added that no shopkeeper will be allowed to take undue advantage of festive season. Earlier the Tehsildar Pampore sealed a poultry unit s at Frestbal Pampore for hoarding 800kg of chicken inside his farm, officials told Kashmir Reader.
Chicken were supplied into the market at government approved rates.
Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din told Kashmir Reader that legal action has been initiated against the offender for hoarding and black marketing of chicken. Government has fixed rate of chicken at Rs 110 per kilogram but many dealers were selling one kg of chicken at 170 per kilogram.
The reason for spike in rate of chicken was that many poultry farm owners were selling them at Rs 145 per kilogram.
