Webinar at BGSBU on ‘Impact of Covid-19 on Entrepreneurship Ecosystem’

Need robust policy framework for survival, revival of small business, say experts

SRINAGAR: To better understand the impact of COVID-19 crisis on Entrepreneurship and start-ups and to help founders and policymakers get through the storm, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri organised a webinar on Impact of COVID-19 on Entrepreneurship Ecosystem.
The webinar was organised to bring academia and industry on a platform to discuss and deliberate upon the strategies and best practices which could help entrepreneurs to navigate through the impact of the pandemic.
Prof. Javed Musaarat, Vice Chancellor of the University in his message congratulated the organising team for holding the Webinar. In his message Prof. Mussarat said that COVID-19 pandemic is a world-altering event, impacting nearly every sphere of life. He mentioned that during these uncertain times, the University is effectively reaching out to all its stakeholders particularly the students and scholars by adopting online modes of teaching and learning to ensure that their academic pursuits are met within the stipulated time frame.
Prof. Iqbal Parwez , Dean Academic Affairs while welcoming the panellists and participants said that COVID-19 has caused extreme disruption socially and economically. He said that as the world is shaken in the most dramatic way, it is time for academia and industry to get closer, support, and learn from each other. Prof. Iqbal said that BGSB University is marching towards excellence in education and research by promoting an environment of creativity and innovative thinking among the students and scholars. Prof. Iqbal expressed his immense delight at the presence eminent panellists including Sanjeeva Shivesh Founder & CEO The Entrepreneurship School, Prof. Raashid Saiyed , Dean, Faculty of Doctoral Studies & Research, RK University, Gujarat & .D P Goel MD, Conquerent Control Systems Pvt.Ltd. Manesar . . Sanjeeva Shivesh while opening up the discussion highlighted the present scenario of entrepreneurship in view of COVID-19 crisis and stressed upon the importance of government interventions for the survival of entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses across the country.
He said that there will be many battlefronts and each has to be won for us to come out of this crisis. He said that there is a need to construct a robust policy framework for the survival and subsequent revival of small business across the country. Prof.Raashid highlighted the role of educational institutions and incubation centres for shaping up and strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
He said that educational institutions have the opportunity to come up with research based start-ups ideas by analysing the dynamics of consumer behaviour during COVID-19 pandemic. . DP Goel highlighted the industry concerns and shared various strategies to get through the present crisis situation. He said that the most crucial thing for the small business is to maintain liquidity for fixed costs till the operations are fully resumed. All the panellists were of the view that we are a nation of resilient people and together we will get through this crisis. More than 100 participants within and outside the country participated in the webinar.
The webinar was organised by the Media Cell, BGSB University In collaboration with University Business Incubation Centre, Central University of Jammu and was coordinated by Dr.Danish Iqbal Raina , Media Advisor, BGSBU and Dr, Shahid Mushtaq , Assistant Professor , central university of Jammu.
