Srinagar: J&K High court Bar Association on Monday urged the J&K administration to release its incarcerated president Mian Qayoom in view of Covid-19 outbreak.
A statement issued by the Bar spokesperson said that they held a virtual meeting and “discussed the emergent situation which has cropped today about threat of Covid 19 looming large upon inmates of Tihar Jail Prison as reported in media today”.
“The member expressed their anguish and grave apprehension about Mian Qayoom becoming a victim of Covid 19 in the face of the underlying ailments he is suffering from due to his advanced age which includes diabetes, coronary heart ailment, lower lumber fracture while being in custody,” it said.
The Bar Association called upon administration to direct his immediate release from custody to prevent any harm being caused to Mian Qayoom and risking his life, it added.
