Div Com reviews Covid-19 containment measures at Kulgam

KULGAM: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, Sunday visited Kulgam district to take stock of the ground situation amid COVID-19 outbreak and to review the measures being taken by District Administration for containment of the deadly Corona virus. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, Director Health, Dr. Sameer Matoo, ADDC,A-SP, ADC, CMO, SDM Noorabad and other officers.

The Divisional commissioner visited various quarantine centers which have been established in the district including ITI College K. B. Pora and took stock of the facilities in place. He also inspected EKLAVYA School Tangmarg which has been earmarked as additional quanrantine centre. Deputy Commissioner, K,ulgam Showkat Aijaz Bhat, briefed him about the measures put in place to tackle COVID- 19 in the district. He also apprised him about the measures which have been put in place for the persons who are arriving from outside UT.

Divisional commissioner also visited 24×7 COVId-19 control rooms at mini-secretariat and took stock of functioning of the control room. He also took a detailed review of the arrangements put in place by the District Administration to contain and prevent the spread of COVID – 19 infections at a meeting of concerned officer, at DC Office. The Div Com was informed that 1097 samples have been taken, so far, out of which 11 were positive and 777 negative while result of 309 cases is awaited. He was further informed that 05 patients have recovered and have been discharged while the number of active cases in district stands at 06.

The Div Com stressed to ensure proper contact tracing and termed it instrumental to break the chain. He also directed to establish offices in buffer zones to ensure availability of all the essential services and will cater other related issues to the inhabitants of red zones. The Div. Com directed the CMO that in addition to COVID – 19 patients ensure healthcare facilities and treatment to the patients with severe ailments also, so that they do not suffer. He directed the concerned for devising a birth plan for the pregnant women so that they could be screened for COVID – 19 well in time. He added that pregnant women from red zone areas must be treated separately and asked for using services of ASHAs for proper identification of the pregnant women. He also directed the concerned to not allow any person at Jawahar tunnel without valid pass.
