PAMPORE: Authorities on Thursday sealed 20 shops in Pampore area for violating prohibitory orders. Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din told Kashmir Reader that they were receiving complaints from people that some shops dealing with non essential services were violating prohibitory orders by keeping their shops open. “The shops used to attract crowd in violation of 144 and other prohibitory orders that are in place,” he said.
The revenue department sent a team to the market to assess ground situation in the early morning on Thursday. They used photography to survey the market and found many shops open. Latter, a team of revenue officials and police officials led by Tehsildar Pampore and SHO Pampore Manzoor Ahmad carried out a market checking drive during which 20 shops were sealed in Drangbal, Namblabal and Kadlabal areas. 5 vehicles were also seized for violating prohibitory orders during the occasion.
The vehicles were plying on highway and in the market without permission or any urgency. Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din told Kashmir Reader that the drive will continue in the area. He appealed people to cooperate with administration by following already issued advisory and prohibitory orders. “Strict action as warranted under law will be taken against defaulters,” he warned.
