Three families shifted in Uri after landslides hit area

Baramulla: The authorities shifted three families to safer places in Zamborpatan village of Uri after heavy landslides and shooting stones hit the area. The locals said that several years past a non local contactor had extract a portion of nearby mountain to find a mine of limestone in the area, however later he was stopped but he left it open, due to which a portion of mountain posing threat to the local resident because of shooting stones and landslides.

“In past few years so many houses were partially damaged due to these shooting stones and landslides mostly during wet weather,” said a local adding we appeal administration to take some steps to stop the shooting stones otherwise it can take human, animal lives anytime and can damage the whole village. They added that administration should either shift the very close families to other safer places or they should take steps to stop it. An official said that there is no option without shift the people to other safer places, and people have their own land there at other side of village in safe area, but people they wants full compensation which is impossible, and it is up to the higher officials to take a decision.
