Traffic resumes on highway

Srinagar: Srinagar-Jammu highway has been opened for vehicular traffic on Saturday after it was suspended due to shooting stones. Superintendent of Traffic Police Rural Kashmir, Manzoor Ahmad Mir told Kashmir Reader that stranded essential commodities vehicles were allowed to move towards Srinagar. “Due to the fair weather condition and better road condition, only essential commodities vehicles will be allowed to move,” Mir said. “The Srinagar-Leh highway is still blocked due to snowfall due to landslide at Zojila,” he said.Meanwhile, the Meteorological centre said that the weather will remain dry and cloudy for the next five days. Deputy Director Met centre Srinagar, Mukhtar Ahmad told Kashmir Reader the weather will remain dry and cloudy from 19th to 23rd of April. “There will be also gradual improvement in the day as well as night temperatures from Sunday,” he said. The lowest night temperature on Saturday was recorded 0.1 degree Celsius at Gulmarg while the Srinagar’s day temperature was recorded 16.8 degree Celsius and night temperature was recorded 7.4 degree Celsius.
