Police donates Rs 9.47 cr towards govt relief fund

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday donated Rs 9.47 crores towards government relief fund for fighting Covid-19 outbreak in the region. “Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh presented a cheque to the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu on behalf of the J&K Police as a contribution to J&K relief fund towards the efforts being undertaken by the government to prevent and mitigate the spread of Covid-19 in JK,” the statement said.

“The donation has been a collective effort of all ranks of J&K Police were all gazetted officers have contributed two day’s salary and all nongazetted police personnel have contributed a day’s salary towards the Covid-19 relief fund,” it reads.

It said, “The Lt Governor appreciated the efforts of the department and outlined the collective responsibility of individuals, institutions, and organizations for coming forward to play their role in protecting our communities and fellow countrymen in this time of crisis.”
