CHADOORA: Jammu & Kashmir RTI Movement on Friday said that over 24 villages are sinking and caving in Budgam’s Chadoora and has sought the intervention of Lt Governor and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to address this issue.
In a statement, chairman of RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat said that around one dozen villages are seriously affected in upper reaches of Chadoora sub-division where land is constantly sinking and eroding at many places. He said that many houses have also got affected due to this and developed cracks.
“Agriculture and residential land in Goggee Pathree, Wangwas, Kutbal, Jeddan, Surasyar, Branwar, Neegu, Jabbad and adjoining villages are constantly sinking from last almost two weeks due to constant wet weather that has affected the karewa soil in the area. As authorities are busy with Covid-19 crisis, this issue is not taken seriously by the administration. I appeal Lt Governor, Divisional Commissioner and District Magistrate Budgam to immediately send a team of experts to these villages to ensure no loss of life and property. I also appeal authorities to provide tents or prefab material to people whose houses have been damaged, ” said Muzaffar
