4 militants, 4 associates held in Handwara, Sopore

Baramulla: Four militants and four associates were arrested by government forces in Handwara and Sopore on Friday. Police in a statement said that they busted LeT module and arrest four militants and two associates. They said that on the basis of specific information regarding the activities of militants, houses of Azad Ahmad Bhat at Shalpora Langate, Altaf Baba of Rafiabad Babagund, Irshad Ahmad of Selikoot Uri were raided and during the search, arms and ammunition and letter pads of proscribed militant outfit LeT were recovered while three people were arrested. They said that during questioning, it came to surface that all the persons were working with militant outfit LeT and were motivating the youth of the area by providing them arms and ammunitions to join militancy. Police said that on Friday morning, raided Gund Chogal village and launched a search operation. During search operation four militants of LeT outfit have been apprehended and 3 AK-47 rifles with 8 magazines and 332 rounds, 12 grenades, 3 pistols with 6 magazines and 24 pistol rounds, letter pad of LeT outfit have been recovered from their possession. Police identify the arrested militants as Parvaiz Ahmad Chopan of Shartpora Langate, Mudasir Ahmad Pandith of Zargar Mohalla Langate, Mohammad Rafi Sheikh of Eidgah Mohallla Langate, and Burhan Mushtaq Wani of Tulwari Langate. FIR has been registered in police station Handwara and further investigation is on. Police also arrested two militant associates in north Kashmir’s Sopore.
