Highway remains closed for 4th day

More rain likely from today

SRINAGAR: Due to landslides and shooting stones at several places on Srinagar- Jammu highway, the traffic movement has remained suspended on the fourth consecutive day. An official from Traffic department told Kashmir Reader the highway is still blocked due to landslide at Dalwas. “The men and machinery are working round the clock to clear debris. The decision regarding the vehicular movement will be taken after the clearance of the highway,” the official said. Meanwhile, Meteorological Centre has predicated light to moderate rains for plains and light snow for the higher reaches between 31th March and Ist April across Kashmir Valley. Deputy Director of Met, Mukhtar Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that there will light to moderate rains on the plains and light snow on the upper reaches of Kashmir Valley between 31th March-April Ist. The lowest night temperature across the Kashmir Valley was recorded minus 2.6 Celsius at Gulmarg followed by Pahalgam where the night temperature was recorded 0.2 degree Celsius, while at Srinagar – day temperature was recorded at 15.3 degree Celsius and night temperature was at 5.2 degree Celsius.
