Burglars strike at Coronavirus patient’s abandoned home in Bandipora Decamp with cash of 3 lakhs

Hajin: Burglars decamped with cash and valuables worth over Rs 3 lakh from Covid-19 patient’s abandoned house at Saderkook Bala in north Kashmir’s Bandipora. The robbery took place on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, police said. “The family is a Coronavirus suspect and were kept at a quarantine centre by the authorities to prevent others from getting infected. Since the family were in quarantine centre, robbers managed to enter the house in the dead of night and decamped with over Rs 3 lakh and some valuables from the house,” a senior police official said. In this regard FIR 53/2020) under IPC sections of 457 and 380 has been registered in police station Sumbal and investigation has been taken up, the officer said. This is the first incident in Kashmir in which burglars took advantage of the global tragedy to strike at the abandoned house of a virus victim.
