Police using multi-faceted approach to implement social distancing in Hajin

HAJIN: Police in Hajin Bandipora has been using a multi-faceted approach to implement social distancing and at the same time helping residents to get essential goods and services.
On the one hand, violators are being dealt with an iron hand, which is evident from the lodging of 3 FIRs in 3 days and arrest of 19 people and on the other hand, people in need are helped and facilitated.
“All medical shops are kept open 24×7. Grocery stores, milk shops, vegetable and fruit vendors are allowed on a roster basis to sell their items, and people are directed and facilitated to buy items while maintaining social distance,” SDPO Mubashir said.
He added that those in a medical emergency are given priority.
“A pregnant lady was escorted by police to the hospital on Saturday,” he said.
“In addition, a system for home delivery of important items by local traders with the help of Hajin Police and district administration has been set up,” the officer said.
He said that these measures have been implemented not only to contain the pandemic but also to give much-needed relief to the local population.
“We have appealed to mohalla heads to announce that people should stay inside their homes, as it is not possible for police to reach every household,” Mubashir said.
The SDPO has sought people’s help to combat this dreaded disease.
“There are eight cases in Hajin area. We must fight collectively to stop this disease from spreading to others,” Mubashir said.
