Covid-19 watch: Amid crisis, PHC Kapran without staff for last 2 weeks

SRINAGAR: In south Kashmir’s Verinag area, Primary Health Centre (PHC) Kapran has been without staff for the last two weeks in time of Covid-19 pandemic, and the administration on Saturday evening took action after complaint by the people and suspended three doctors along with paramedical staff for the negligence of duty.
Among three doctors posted at the hospital, only one doctor used to be present at the hospital attending the patients, according to the locals.
But since last few days, he too was absent from his duties following which people of the area had complained to SDM Dooru-Verinag.
All the three doctors, as well as paramedical staff, were placed under suspension with immediate effect, while Tehsildar Shahabad Bala has been asked to file the report within three days.
Gh Rasool Wani, Sub Divisional Magistrate Dooru- Verinag told Kashmir Reader that they received several calls from the people about the nonavailability of staff in the hospital.
“In this regard, I directed the officials to visit the hospital and they found the staff absent,” he said.
“In view of present circumstances and dereliction of duties, three doctors, as well as paramedical staff, were placed under suspension with immediate effect. I have directed concerned BMO to arrange and depute alternate staff for the hospital on a speedy basis,” said Wani.
