AMFU- Srinagar SKUAST K issues advisory for apple growers

SRINAGAR: According to SKUAST-K, farmers are advised to spray the following fungicide in apple at green tip stage –
Mancozeb 75 WP @ 300g or Zineb 75 WP @ 300 g or Propineb 70 WP @ 300g or Captan 50 WP @ 300g.
“Ensure orchard sanitation through destruction of pruned or diseased/infected twigs by burning,” SKUAST-K said in a statement. “Adopt proper central drainage system. Maintain a gap of 3-4 days between insecticide and fungicide spray. Avoid mixing of fungicides, insecticide and spray suspensions other than those recommended by SKUAST-K.”
It reads, “Adjuvants/Stickers may be added for better efficacy of fungicides especially during rainy days. Stickers are Selvet 99/Agrowet/Uphaar @ 12.5 g/100 litre of suspension and Triton AE/Uphaar/Sandovit @ 50-75 ml/100 litre of suspension.”
“Stickers should not be used with Dodine. Do not spray pesticides during bloom. Same systemic fungicides should not be repeated between two sprays. Apply fertilizer in apple and pear before three weeks of bloom,” it added.
