Lawyers body seek release of ailing Mian Qayoom

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association on Thursday sought the release of its president Mian Abdul Qayoom, who is serving incarceration at Delhi’s Tihar jail under Public Safety Act.
“As per the health condition of the President, who is in his advanced age surviving on single kidney and is suffering from various chronic ailments which include diabetes, hypertension, severe nerve damage, prostate and 60% blockage in one of the arteries of heart, he is more prone to the deadly virus,” reads the statement.
“As per the advisories issued by the Health Ministry and Doctors from time to time, the virus is more dangerous, for the people who are having week immune system, advanced age and/or already involved in ailments,” it added.
The Bar members made a ferment appeal to the authorities that Mr. Mian Abdul Qayoom, be released immediately without any further loss of time.
It also welcomed the release to the body’s general secretary Advocate Muhammad Ashraf Bhat, who was detained under PSA last year.
