Jamiat puts on hold Friday prayers

SRINAGAR: The Jamiat-ul-Ahlihadees (JAH) on Thursday decided to put on hold Friday prayers across its mosques in Jammu and Kashmir till March 31 in view of the deadly coronavirus.
This was decided in a meeting of Jamiat leaders held Thursday under the chairmanship of amalgam president Ghulam Muhammad Al-Madni. The meeting was attended by General Secretary Dr Lateef Alkindi and Mufti Jammu and Kashmir Muhammad Yaqoob Baba.
During the meeting it was decided that the Friday prayers will be put on hold in Jammu and Kashmir till March 31 in wake of the virus that has created panic among the masses.
The decision, they said, was taken according to the teachings and principles of Islam.
Many Muslim countries have also decided that congregational prayers be offered inside homes instead of at mosques to curtail spread of COVID-19.
