Militant arrested in Sopore

BARAMULLA: Police on Sunday said they have arrested Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant in Sopore area of district Baramulla.
In a statement, police said that based on credible input of the presence of a newly recruited militant in Bulgam area of Sopore, a joint operation was launched by army’s 52 RR, paramilitary CRPF, and police’s special operations group (SOG) of Sopore.
It reads that while conducting the search operation, one militant tried to flee from the spot. “The security forces challenged the militant and caught him alive,” it said.
He has been identified as Danish Ahmed Kakroo from Chesti Colony Baramulla.
Police said that the initial probe suggests that he had joined militant ranks one day ago. “Weapons were recovered from the militant and further probe is underway,” police said.
