Highway cleared for stranded vehicles

SRINAGAR: After three days, stranded vehicles on the Srinagar-Jammu highway were allowed to move towards Srinagar on Saturday afternoon after the road was cleared of landslides at several places.
Superintendent of Traffic Rural Kashmir, Manzoor Ahmad Mir told Kashmir Reader that the highway has been cleared for one-way traffic only.
“The highway was restored for stranded vehicles in the afternoon to move towards Srinagar,” Mir said.
“Due to the fair weather and better road condition, only one-way traffic will be allowed to ply from Jammu towards Srinagar on Sunday. People are advised to undertake journey on the highway only after confirming the status from the traffic control units,’’ he added.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre in Srinagar said that the weather will remain dry for the next 6 days across Kashmir valley.
According to a weather official, the lowest night temperature on Saturday in Kashmir valley was recorded in Gulmarg at minus 3.5 degree Celsius, while Srinagar’s day temperature was recorded at 14.7 degrees Celsius maximum and the minimum night temperature at 3.4 degrees Celsius.
