Only stranded vehicles to move on highway from Jammu towards Srinagar

SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has forecast light rain in plains and snowfall in the upper reaches of the Kashmir valley on Thursday.
Deputy Director of the Meteorological centre, Mukhtar Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that the weather will remain cloudy for a day and there are chances of light rain in the plains and snowfall in the higher altitudes of Kashmir region on Thursday.
“However, the weather will remain dry from the 13th to the 18th of March,” he said.
Ahmad informed that Srinagar’s maximum day temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 16.5 degree Celsius, while the minimum night temperature was 1.8 degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, no fresh traffic movement on the Srinagar-Jammu highway will be allowed on Thursday, a traffic official said, adding that only stranded vehicles will be allowed to travel on the highway from Jammu towards Srinagar.
An official from Traffic Control Unit Ramban told Kashmir Reader that the landslides which hit the highway on Tuesday have been fully cleared.
“No fresh vehicular movement from either side (Srinagar or Jammu) will be allowed on the highway today. Only stranded vehicles will be allowed to move from Jammu side towards Srinagar,” the official said.
