Thieves on prowl in Allochi Bagh, police clueless

SRINAGAR: Police has failed to nab the culprits who decamped with cash and jewellery worth several millions in Allochi Bagh area last month.
According to locals, Shergari Police Station has registered several First Information Reports (FIRs) in burglary incidents at GulshanColony Allochi Bagh this year, but cops are yet to catch hold of the thieves involved the crime.
“Burglary is a routine affair in our area,” said a local Rouf Ahmad.
“But there is no headway in several cases that occurred in Gulshan Colony locality in February,” he said.
In one such incident an elderly couple was robbed of cash and jewellery worth more than Rs 15 lakh when they were not present in the house.
“We have been left in huge distress as thieves stole every single jewellery item and cash from our house,” said another local Ghulam Mohiudin Dar.
“They broke every door and lock in the house and ran away with the valuables including gold ornaments worth more than Rs 15 lakh,” he told Kashmir Reader.
Dar, 70, appealed the police especially SHO ShergariTanushree to expedite the investigation in the cases.
“Thieves have looted our life savings. We appeal the police to act without delay,” he said.
“The SHO madam has been very helpful so far. But, she must bring culprits to book immediately,” Dar added.
SHO ShergariTanushree told Kashmir Reader that the investigation is taking time because the victims are not aware about the time and day of occurrence of crime.
“We have little evidence about the thefts as people are clueless about the day and time of occurrence,” she said.
“Police is still investigating the cases vigorously. Let us hope we catch the thieves,” SHO said.
