Army officer dies in fire incident at Gulmarg

Baramulla: An army officer was killed while trying to save his dog in Gulmarg area Saturday night.
Police sources said that fire broke out in an army quarter near Royal park in Gulmarg on Saturday night, The army men on duty tried to douse the flames along with an army major identified as Major Ankit Budhraj of SSTC attached with Corps Signals. He ventured into the inferno to save his trapped dog, receiving severe burn injuries. The other army men evacuated him for medical attention but could not save him.
Station House Officer (SHO) Gulmarg Aftab Gul confirmd that major Ankit was received serious burn injuries while trying to save his dog, and in this incident both the officer and his dog got killed.
The police shift the body of killed major to SDH Tangmarg for postpartum and for other legal formalities. The fire was later brought under control by fire fighters and local police.
